. . . to surpass the original song. “Lean On” and “Cold Water” are both co-written by MØ and the latter also co-produced by Major Lazer, and both are currently reaching new heights in the charts.
However, as a part of the songwriting community, MØ has struggled with the pressure of releasing her own music and performing as a singer. She has stated that she has been heavily influenced by other songwriters, as she has been told that she is not a good enough singer to be a solo artist.
In 2014, MØ joined Dada Life and became a songwriter and producer for the group, as well as for the song “The Climb”. She has written songs for other artists, including “Right Here”, a song that features Future on the songwriting credits.
In January 2015, MØ collaborated with Tyler, The Creator and producer Mike G on the song “Rabbit Hole”. MØ wrote the lyrics, and Tyler wrote the music, although the song was recorded by G. This was the first time that MØ had written lyrics for another artist, and the song was released as a single on January 20, 2015. “Rabbit Hole” was a commercial success, peaking at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, number two on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and number two on the US Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
In June 2015, MØ released her debut EP as a solo artist, titled "The Listening", which features collaborations with artists such as Juice WRLD and G-Eazy. In 2017, MØ released the single “Lights Down Low”, which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2018, MØ released the single “Girls Like Us”, which has reached number one on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart, number twenty on the Hot 100, and number five on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was released in collaboration with French DJ and producer Fedde Le Grand, who had previously released a song titled “Girls Like Us”, which was also a number one hit.
In 2019, MØ released the single “One Call Away”, which was inspired by a recent breakup
